Customer Reviews
Obsessed with my matcha!
I just got the Matsu Ceremonial Grade Matcha and it's incredible! The flavor is so smooth and vibrant. I've tried other brands, but this one really stands out. Shipping was quick too, it arrived in just a few days. I'm already planning my next order for some teaware. Definitely recommending Matchaeologist to all my friends!
Detailed review of my first order
I placed my first order with Matchaeologist last week, opting for the Ceremonial Starter Collection. The ordering process on their website was straightforward and intuitive; I had no issues finding what I needed. Shipping took exactly 5 business days to reach my address in New York, which felt standard. The kit itself was well-packaged, and all components, including the Ceramic Matcha Bowl and Bamboo Whisk Chasen, arrived in perfect condition. I was particularly impressed with the Misaki Ceremonial Grade Matcha included; it had a vibrant green color and a smooth, mellow flavor when prepared according to their guide. I did have a quick question about storing the matcha, and their customer service responded within a few hours, which was helpful. Overall, a very positive initial experience from browsing to brewing.
Mostly happy with order
I bought the Matcha Brewing Kit and some Matsu Ceremonial Grade Matcha. The matcha itself is quite good, and the tools are decent quality, especially the Bamboo Whisk Chasen. My main gripe was that the Cloud Glass Katakuchi Bowl arrived with a tiny chip on the rim. It's not a huge deal, and I didn't bother with a return, but it was a bit disappointing. Delivery took about 6 days, which is reasonable. For the price, it's fair value, but they could improve their packaging for fragile items.
Reliably good matcha
Another solid order from Matchaeologist. I've been getting their Misaki Ceremonial Grade Matcha for a while now, and it's consistently excellent. This time I also picked up a Bamboo Tea Scoop Chashaku, which is really nice. Their shipping is always prompt, typically taking about 4-5 days to get to me in California. It's why I keep coming back; I know what I'm getting.
Quick shipping, good matcha
Got the Meiko Ceremonial Grade Matcha. It arrived fast. The matcha tastes good, very fresh. Happy with the purchase. Will buy again when I run out.

What's the return policy on the teaware? What if a bowl arrives broken?
Thinking of getting the Modern Matcha Starter Set. Is it worth it or should I just buy the pieces separately?
How does their matcha compare to something like Ippodo? I've been using Ippodo for a while but looking to try something new.
Is Matchaeologist legit? The prices are pretty high and I want to make sure it's not some scam.
What's the shipping time like to California? Trying to get some matcha before my trip next week.
is the Matsu matcha really that much better than Misaki? trying to decide which ceremonial one to get.
Do they offer any discount for first time buyers? Or should I wait for a holiday sale?
hey, anyone know if the matcha is actually organic? I'm trying to avoid pesticides and stuff.
